Clarence Swearengen

Founder and President

I have been married to my lovely wife Rhonda for 15 years. We have two beautiful children Carrington and Cameron. As for my house, we will serve the Lord. I was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. I am a proud graduate of the University of Tennessee with a Master’s in Sports Administration. I was a member of the University of Tennessee basketball team from 1987-89.  I have coached on all levels of basketball from the middle, high school, and the collegiate level for The University of Memphis as well as the University of Tennessee. I played for 10 years in Europe as a professional basketball player. I am also a member of the greatest fraternity ( Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated ) Currently, I work for Knox County Schools as an Administrator for 14 years. I am the proud founder of RealTalk Mentoring Inc. At the moment, my program serves 10 schools with 300 students in the program. My passion is to make a difference in society and in our communities which plays a vital part in whom God created in me. I love being a role model for our youth as well as empowering, encouraging, and enriching them to be successful by keeping it real, realistic and relational.

Rodney King, Jr.

Board of Directors

Born and raised in Memphis, TN to Cassandra and Rodney King, Sr. He attended Douglass High School, where he graduated Salutatorian and participated in track, cross country, and basketball. In 2020, he graduated from the University of Tennessee - Knoxville with a B.S. in Kinesiology and became a member of Kappa Alpha Psi. He went on to work at Vine Middle Magnet School as a Behavior Specialist and coach girls basketball. He’s proudly served our country for almost 7 years while recently commissioning as an Intelligence Officer in the Tennessee Air National Guard.

B.K. Hardin

Board of Directors

I have been with KPD since 2011. I have my BS & MS degrees from UT and an Ed.S degree from LMU. Prior to becoming a police officer, I spent several years as a teacher and coach then made the transition to law enforcement with the Knox Co. Sheriff’s office in 2007. During my time at KPD, I have been assigned to Patrol, the Central Business District, CID and Safety Education/SRO. I am a Crisis Intervention Officer, Community Liaison Officer, Recruit Mentor, Field Training Officer and member of the Search & Rescue Team. My volunteer activities have included Badges for Baseball with the Boys & Girls Club, Philip Moore Youth Boot Camp, KPD Literacy Initiative, CAC Leadership Council, Big Brothers Big Sisters Mentor 2.0. and a board member of Real Talk Mentoring Inc. I am married to my wife Adrienne and have 2 children and 3 step children.
